The site provides a short description and suggested grade level for each lesson plan, along with a link. Chemistry


This Internet site describes the instructional philosophy and methods of a progressive high school chemistry program. Created by The Ohio State University's Chemistry Department. this site offers fifteen test banks        covering an abundance of chemistry topics including Quantum Chemistry, Rates of Reaction, and Electrochemistry. Within each test bank, students will find numerous three-question quizzes. After taking a quiz, visitors can observe their performance and learn the correct answers.
The Oxford VR Group is developing a three-dimensional simulated laboratory for the teaching of chemistry. This laboratory will be modeled using virtual reality techniques and it will contain interactive multimedia experiments.  Essentially, the student will be able to move around the lab in a web browser window and choose to take part in experiments that are distributed around this virtual lab.

Genetics


This site is a hypermodel for teaching high school genetics, developed with support from the National Science Foundation. It offers interactive features that enable students to manipulate processes to make observations and draw conclusions. In the Web Lab, students can study genetics either with dragons or peas in highly interactive activities and through quicktime movies.
This new database from the Institute of Medical Genetics at the University of Wales College of  Medicine, Cardiff, is designed to become a central repository for "information on the prevalence and/or incidence of Mendelian genetic disorders."      
The Human Genome Project (HGP) began in 1990 as an effort by researchers from around the world to map and sequence the human genome - the totality of human DNA - as well as the genomes of important experimental organisms, like yeast, the nematode worm, and mouse." This website, though designed for high school students, offers so much new research it really is of interest to all.   
This site has a wonderful animated explanation of the causes of Sickle Cell Disease. For other disorders, such as Cystic Fibrosis, Hemophelia, Neurofibromatosis, and Huntington Disease, there         are areas where patients talk about the consequences of having the disorder, treatmentsand tests.
