Princeton High School's Physical Education Garden Classroom

Nearly 70 volunteers built and filled 16 raised garden beds for Princeton High School's new Phys Ed Gardening program on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, 2009. The event, coordinated by the Princeton School Gardens Cooperative, was fueled by donations of Terra Momo chili, Whole Earth hot cider, Pizza Star salad and apples from Terhune Orchards and Vineland via Chartwells.   Please view our gallery of photos!

If you missed the Garden Raising, there's still time to help.  Students who choose to participate in the gardening elective are in need of rakes, trowels, hoes, garden hoses, garden gloves, tomato cages and knee pads, among other supplies. The program also needs donations of untreated cedar or fir to construct a teaching/exercise deck and storage benches.

Please send donations to Princeton High School, Phys Ed Gardens program, 151 Moore St., Princeton, NJ, 08540. In the memo field, write Phys Ed Gardens. Drop off new or gently used garden equipment at the PHS athletic department after the Thanksgiving holiday.
